Bioinformatician/Programmer (f/m)
(full-time and limited)
A Bioinformatician/Programmer position is available for 1.5 years with the possibility of extension after positive evaluation.
Project description:
The German Federation for the Curation of Biological Data (GFBio) project, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), will provide a sustainable, service-oriented, national data infrastructure facilitating data sharing and stimulating data intensive science in the fields of biological and environmental research. The planned infrastructure will be capable to handle highly interdisciplinary heterogeneous data. Within the current proposal, special consideration will be given to genome data, ecological and environmental data as well as collection related data. Services provided by the GFBio will cover the full life cycle of research data from field or real time data acquisition to long term archiving and publication as well as analysis and re-use of these data. The applicant will implement the interoperability between existing databases.
Task: Project-related software development with a focus on web applications.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Java
- Extensive experience in web development, specifically with:
• HTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX
• RESTful web services and web application frameworks
• PHP - Experience with relational database systems, specifically PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Use of version control systems, bug trackers und build tools
- Motivation und team spirit
- Willingness to explore new topics
